9月10日，华为创始人兼CEO任正非接受了《经济学人》采访。经济学人对此进行了报道，文章标题叫作Ren Zhengfei may sell Huawei’s 5G technology to a Western buyer，它的副标题是The Chinese telecoms giant’s boss considers creating a competitor for his company。

giant表示“巨头”，“The Chinese telecoms giant”即“中国电信巨头”。还比如Samsung, a South Korean electronics giant 韩国电子产业巨头三星；它的同义词是“heavyweight”，如internet heavyweight Alibaba 互联网巨头阿里巴巴。

任正非表示，有意向西方公司出售华为的5G技术，目的是“塑造一个能在5G上与华为竞争的对手”。

其中有句话是这么说的：

For a one-time fee, a transaction would give the buyer perpetual access to Huawei’s existing 5g patents, licences, code, technical blueprints and production know-how.

买家只要支付一次性费用，就能永久使用华为现有的5G专利、许可证、代码、技术蓝图和生产技术诀窍。

从这句话中我们可以学到这样几个知识点：

1. 一次性费用：a one-time fee。“一次性支付费用”可以说“a one-time fee of +数字”。如a one-time fee of $1. 99 一次缴付1.99美元；fee表示“费用”时多指允许做某事的费用，许可费。如a patent-licence fee 专利使用费。

2. transaction：意为“交易”。指一笔笔的交易，买卖。通常指买东西卖东西这种行为。这里指的是买家支付一次性费用，就可获得华为现有5G专利、许可证、代码等永久使用权。

3. 买家可永久使用：give the buyer perpetual access to。“give access to”表示“可获取，可进入”。也可以说the buyer can get perpetual access to。比如：通过互联网可以更容易地获得更多的资料和数据，就可以说：we can get easier access to more information and data via the internet。这里的“perpetual”表示“永久的”，“perpetual access to”即“可永久使用……”。

4. 一些专业表达：5g patents 5G专利；licences 许可证；code 代码；technical blueprints 技术蓝图。

5. production know-how：生产技术诀窍。“know-how”是固定表达，意思是“专门知识；技能，技巧”。如technical know-how 专业技术知识。

对于此举，任正非是这么解释的：

To his mind, this would help level the playing field.

6. “level the playing field”是固定表达，意思是“公平竞争，营造公平竞争的机会”。比如世界银行官网上的这句：He says much can also be done globally to help level the playing field and improve the lives of people in the developing world. 他表示，在全球范围内营造公平的竞争环境，改善发展中国家的人民生活，也是大有可为的。
