It is a great pleasure to welcome you to our Embassy, to jointly celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. All of you have witnessed, participated in and contributed to the development of China-U.S. relations. So let me first extend my heartfelt thanks to you and friends from various sectors in the United States for your longstanding support for China-U.S. relations!

新中国成立76年来，神州大地沧桑巨变。中国从一穷二白成长为世界第二大经济体和制造业第一大国；从温饱不足迈向全面小康，人均预期寿命从35岁增加到79岁；科技创新日新月异，刚才视频中呈现的中国空间站正是这一发展进程的生动注脚。
Over the past 76 years, profound changes have taken place in China. Once an impoverished nation where people struggled to meet basic living needs, China is now the world’s second-largest economy and top manufacturer, and has brought moderate prosperity to its people in all respects, with the average life expectancy rising from 35 to 79 years. Significant progress has also been made in technological innovation. The Chinese space station we just saw in the video is a vivid example.
中华民族迎来从站起来、富起来到强起来的伟大飞跃，成功走出一条中国式现代化道路。中国将始终以人民之心为心、以天下之利为利，通过自身发展为维护世界和平稳定、促进世界现代化贡献力量。
The Chinese nation has achieved the tremendous transformation from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong, and has found a Chinese path to modernization. China will continue to meet people’s aspirations,pursue the larger interests of all countries, and make greater contributions to the peace, development and modernization of the world through its own development.
中国是世界的稳定力量，为消除发展赤字提供确定性。在保护主义加剧、贫富鸿沟拉大、全球经济增长乏力的背景下，中国秉持开放包容、互利共赢的理念，保持经济稳健前行，上半年GDP同比增长5.3%，领跑主要经济体，并且连续十多年对世界经济增长贡献率超过30%。据IMF测算，中国经济每增长1%，带动其他经济体产出水平平均提高0.3%。
As a force for stability in the world, China provides certainty for eliminating the deficit in development. In the face of rising protectionism, a widening wealth gap and sluggish global economic growth, China has upheld openness, inclusiveness and win-win cooperation, and maintained steady economic development. Its GDP expanded 5.3% year-over-year in the first half of 2025, continuing to rank among the top in major economies. For over 10 consecutive years, China has contributed over 30% to global economic growth. According to IMF estimates, when China’s growth rate rises by 1 percentage point, growth in other countries increases by around 0.3 percentage points on average.
面对别国“关门”，中国坚定扩大自主、单边、制度型开放，搭建进博会、广交会、服贸会、链博会等平台，给予所有同中国建交的最不发达国家100%税目产品零关税待遇，共建“一带一路”累计带动超4000万人摆脱贫困。中国将持续以自身新发展为世界提供新机遇。
While some countries are closing doors, China has taken the initiative to open wider and stayed firmly committed to expanding unilateral and institutional opening-up. It has built platforms including the China International Import Expo, the Canton Fair, the China International Fair for Trade in Services and the China International Supply Chain Expo. China has also offered zero-tariff treatment for 100% tariff lines to all least developed countries having diplomatic relations with it. The Belt and Road cooperation has lifted over 40 million people out of poverty. China will continue to provide new opportunities to the world with its further development.
中国是世界的和平力量，为弥合安全赤字注入正能量。今年是中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利80周年。作为东方主战场，中国以长达14年、3500多万军民伤亡的巨大代价为世界反法西斯战争胜利作出不可磨灭的贡献。历史不是任人打扮的小姑娘，真相不容歪曲，坚持正确二战史观，才能防止悲剧重演。
As a force for peace in the world, China injects positive energy into fixing the deficit in security. This year marks the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. As the main Eastern battlefield, China made indelible contributions to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War with 14 years of heroic resistance and over 35 million casualties. History should not be tampered with, and the truth should not be distorted. Only when a correct historical perspective on WWII is upheld can humanity prevent tragedies from repeating themselves again.
当前天下并不太平，传统军事冲突与非传统安全威胁交织。76年来，中国从未主动挑起一场战争，是和平安全纪录最好的大国。从和平共处五项原则到勘界划界“安定四邻”，从全球安全倡议到成立国际调解院，从主张政治解决热点问题到积极参与联合国维和，从政策理念到实践层面，中国都是世界和平的坚定守护者，中国力量每增长一分，世界和平希望就增多一分。
The world today is far from tranquil, with traditional military conflicts intertwined with non-traditional security threats. Over the past 76 years, China has never started a war, and has been the major country that keeps the best record in terms of peace and security. From the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence to joint boundary surveys and demarcation with neighbors, from the launch of the Global Security Initiative to the establishment of the International Organization for Mediation, from promotion of political solutions to hotspot issues to active participation in UN peacekeeping missions, China has been a staunch defender of world peace in both policy and practice. Every increase in China’s strength is an increase in the prospects of world peace.
中国是世界的进步力量，为破解治理赤字贡献新智慧。针对当前全球治理体系出现的失灵、失能、失效问题以及体系中存在的不公正、不合理安排，习近平主席提出全球治理倡议，其核心理念是奉行主权平等、遵守国际法治、践行多边主义、倡导以人为本、注重行动导向，既与《联合国宪章》宗旨原则一脉相承，又有继承创新，勾勒了改革完善全球治理的方向。倡议强调维护联合国权威和作用，反对单边主义和双重标准，倡导共商共建共享，主张平等参与、平等决策、平等受益，给各国人民带来获得感、安全感和幸福感。无论国际风云如何变幻，中国永远站在历史正确一边、公平正义一边、人类进步一边。
As a force for progress in the world, China contributes wisdom to resolving the deficit in governance. To address the dysfunction and ineffectiveness in the current global governance system and the unjust and unreasonable arrangements, President Xi Jinping has put forward the Global Governance Initiative. Its core principles include adhering to sovereign equality, abiding by international rule of law, practicing multilateralism, advocating the people-centered approach, and focusing on taking real actions, which both embody the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and innovatively chart the course for reforming and improving global governance. The initiative stresses the need to uphold the authority androle of the UN, reject unilateralism and double standards, encourage extensive consultation and joint contribution for shared benefit, and ensure that all countries are equal participants, decision-makers and beneficiaries in global governance, so that people of all countries can have a greater sense of fulfillment, safety and well-being. No matter how the international situation may evolve, China will always standon the right side of history, fairness and justice, and human progress.

Ladies and gentlemen,
鉴往知来，察势明道。过去，中美并肩抗击法西斯，不仅同为二战胜利主要贡献者，也同为战后国际秩序主要构建者。当下，中美作为联合国安理会常任理事国和世界前两大经济体，更应本着对历史、对人民、对世界负责的态度，加强沟通合作，为两国人民造福，为世界和平发展出力。
History is the best guide to the future. In the past, China and the United States fought fascism side by side. We were both major contributors to the victory in World War II and main builders of the post-war international order. Today, as permanent members of the UN Security Council and the world’s top two economies, our two countries should act with a greater sense of responsibility for history, the people and the world, and enhance communication and cooperation, so as to benefit both our peoples and safeguard world peace and development.
中美要深化利益融合，做相互成就的同行者。中美拥有广泛共同利益、巨大合作空间。中美贸易从建交时不足25亿美元到去年6882亿美元，增长了275倍，展现出强大韧性和内生动力。中国正成长为全球最大、最有活力的市场，有能力从美购买更多适销对路的商品，为美带来更多商机。据统计，7.3万家美企在华投资兴业，其中82%实现盈利，今年7月链博会上美国参展商增长15%，居境外参展商之首。
We need to deepen the integration of interests, and be partners helping each other succeed. Our two countries have extensive common interests and vast room for cooperation. Since we established diplomatic relations, bilateral trade has surged 275 times from less than 2.5 billion US dollars to 688.2 billion last year, demonstrating strong resilience and internal momentum. As China grows into the world’s largest and most dynamic market, we are able to buy more products we need from the U.S. and bring more business opportunities to the U.S. It is estimated that 82% of the around 73,000 American businesses investing and operating in China have profited. The number of US exhibitorsat the China International Supply Chain Expo in Julyincreased by 15% from last year, making them the largest group of overseas exhibitors.
这些充分反映了中美经贸互利共赢的本质，也印证了选择中国就是选择机遇。非法移民、芬太尼、电信诈骗、金融犯罪、癌症防治、传染性疾病和人工智能等完全可以成为双方合作亮点和增长点。双方要拉长合作清单，做大合作蛋糕，实现双赢、多赢。
All these have spoken volumes about the mutually beneficial nature of China-U.S. economic and trade relations, and have proven that embracing China is embracing opportunities. Areas such as illegal immigration, the fentanyl issue, telecom fraud, financial crimes, cancer prevention, infectious diseases and AI have all the potential to become highlights and growth points in our cooperation. Our two sides need to make the list of cooperation longer and the pie of cooperation bigger, so that we both and all can win from it.
中美要妥处矛盾分歧，做和平稳定的维护者。过去、现在和将来，中美都会有分歧，关键是要尊重彼此核心利益和重大关切，为中美关系装好安全阀。
We need to properly handle differences, and be champions of peace and stability. There have been and will continue to be differences between China and the U.S. The key is to respect each other’s core interests and major concerns, so as to install a safety valve for bilateral relations.
台湾问题事关中美关系的政治基础，处理不好可能引发中美冲突对抗，美方务必慎之又慎，恪守一个中国原则和中美三个联合公报，停止散布“台湾地位未定”谬论，不得挑战包括联大第2758号决议在内的国际社会共识，不能踩线越界。
The Taiwan question bears on the political foundation of China-U.S. relations. If not properly handled, it could cause confrontation or conflict. The U.S. side should exercise extra prudence on the question, abide by the one-China principle and the three Sino-U.S. Joint Communiqués,stop spreading the fallacy that Taiwan’s status is “undetermined”, avoid challenging the consensus of the international community including UNGA Resolution 2758, and refrain from trespassing on or crossing the line.
事实证明，关税战、贸易战没有赢家，人为脱钩断链扰乱世界，只会损人害己。两国经贸会谈取得积极进展表明，平等协商才是解决问题正确之道。
Also, facts have proven that tariff war or trade war produces no winner. Attempts to seek decoupling and disrupt industrial and supply chains would only destabilize the world and benefit no one in the end. The positive progress in our economic and trade talks has shown that equal-footed consultation is the right way forward.
中美合，世界安；中美斗，世界忧。双方要恪守不冲突不对抗的底线，为本已动荡的世界增添稳定性。
When China and the U.S. work together, the world feels reassured; if we confront each other, the world would be left unnerved. Our two sides need to keep to the bottom line of non-conflict and non-confrontation, and add more stability to the turbulent world.
中美要夯实民意根基，做人民友好的促进者。习近平主席指出，中美关系希望在人民，基础在民间，未来在青年，活力在地方。从“乒乓外交”到“匹克球交流”，从“鼓岭缘”到“鼓岭之友”，从“飞虎队”到“飞虎队友谊学校”，从习近平主席40年前的艾奥瓦州“老朋友”到“5年5万”倡议落地涌现的“新朋友”，一座座两国人民相遇相知的桥梁在太平洋两岸架起，双向奔赴、友谊合作的故事跨越时空接力传承。
We need to enhance popular support for our relations, and be promoters of goodwill between our people. As President Xi Jinping pointed out, the hope of the China-U.S. relationship lies in the people, its foundation is in our societies, its future depends on the youth, and its vitality comes from exchanges at subnational levels. From ping-pong diplomacy to pickleball exchanges, from the Bond with Kuliang to the Friends of Kuliang, from the Flying Tigers to the Flying Tigers Friendship Schools, and from President Xi’s old friends in Iowa from 40 years ago to the new friends visiting China under the “50,000 in five years” initiative, bridges of mutual understanding and affinity have been built across the Pacific one after another, and stories of friendship and cooperation have unfolded across time one chapter after another.
跟大家分享一个好消息，继对美国开放240小时过境免签后，“中国领事”APP签证功能即将在美上线，大家动动手指就能申请赴华签证，来一场“说走就走”的中国行。我们也希望美方相向而行，为两国人民来往交流创造便利条件。
Here, I would like to share with American friends some good news: you not only can enjoy China’s 240-hour visa-free transit policy, but also will be able to apply for a Chinese visa in just several clicks through the “China Consular Affairs” app soon, soyou can embark on a trip to China whenever you like. We hope the US side will move in the same direction and facilitate our people’s exchanges and travels too.

Ladies and gentlemen,
积土而为山，积水而为海。历经76载奋斗的中国人民深知，幸福和美好未来不会从天而降，成功只属于勇毅而笃行的人。中美关系也从来不是一帆风顺，让我们坚持相互尊重不偏航、和平共处不相撞、合作共赢不失速，携手推动搭载17亿多人民福祉的中美关系巨轮，沿着正确航向穿越风雨、破浪前行！
As a Chinese saying goes, “A mountain is formed by layers of earth, and an ocean by drops of water.” After 76 years of hard work, the Chinese people know clearly that happiness and a bright future will not come on their own, and success favors only the courageous and the perseverant. Likewise, the China-U.S. relationship has never been smooth sailing. Let’s adhere to mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, and jointly ensure that the giant ship of China-U.S. relations, which carries with it the well-being of more than 1.7 billion people, will not lose direction orspeed orhave a collision, and will break waves and forge ahead along the right route.
