20年11月14日CATTI三笔真题汉译英中有这么两句话：
大力发展电子商务，着力推动互联网和实体经济深度融合发展，促进资源配置优化，为推动创新发展、转变经济增长方式、调整经济结构发挥积极作用。
这两句里面出现了很多次“发展”，不少人看到这么多“发展”，郁闷啊，究竟该怎么翻译啊？今天公众号“高斋CATTI”给大家分享下高频“发展”的翻译。
省译“发展”
一般来说，“发展”在句子中是范畴词的话，就可以省译，常见的有“推动……的发展”。
《中式英语之鉴》讲过，promote本身就指推动……的发展，所以“推动/促进……发展”可以翻译为”promote sth，不加development。如CATTI二笔考过的“促进旅游业发展”boost tourism，而不说boost the development of tourism。
还比如报告例句：
中国宪法以其最高的法律地位，有力保障了人民当家作主，推动了中国人权事业发展。
As the supreme law, the Constitution of China effectively ensures that the people are masters of the country, and has promoted the cause of human rights in China.
“推动……深度融合发展”一般翻译push for/promote integration of sth，“发展”可以当作范畴词，不翻译。
所以，这句真题中的“推动全球数字经济发展”不译出development，直接翻译为boost the global digital economy，或者promote/advance a stronger digital economy globally，其中a不能丢，a stronger+n经常这样连用。
“推动互联网和实体经济深度融合发展”就可以直接翻译为promote/push for integration of the digital and real economies，也可以直接用强势动词integrate the internet more deeply into the real economy，总之省译“发展”。
翻译“发展”
1. 宾语只有development，不能没有宾语，需要翻译出来。因此，真题中的“自身发展”翻译为pursuing its own development，谓语动词pursue不能没有宾语development。
2. “发展”前面有形容词，一般翻译出“发展”，如“促进可持续发展”是promote sustainable development。
3. 一般情况下，表示facilitate/support/encourage the development/growth of这种需要development，如报告例句：
支持餐饮、商场、文化、旅游、家政等生活服务业恢复发展，推动线上线下融合。
We will support the recovery and development of food and beverage, brick and mortar shopping, culture, tourism, domestic services, and other consumer services, and promote the integration of online and offline consumption.
推动制造业升级和新兴产业发展。
We will encourage the upgrading of manufacturing and the growth of emerging industries.
4. development表示建设的时候，一般是accelerate/strengthen the development of这种需要development，如报告例句：
加快建设国家实验室，重组国家重点实验室体系，发展社会研发机构，
We will accelerate the development of national laboratories, restructure the system of key national laboratories, and develop private R&D institutions.
还比如，加快重大项目建设accelerate the development of major projects
