倍数的翻译表达：

英语中，倍数一般都是原来的N倍：所以下面都是原来的倍数。反正大家就是记住，英语里面提到下面的都指“是原来的N倍”，翻译的时候可以说“是……的N倍、增至N倍、增加/长N-1倍）

A. Times。都是原来的N倍

A is N times larger than B.

A is N times the size of B.

A is N times as large as B.

B. fold，by a factor of。注意fold和factor直接可以表示倍数，所以里面不加times。都是原来的N倍

Increase\grow/up/rise N-fold

Increase\grow/up/rise by a factor of N

Increase\grow/up/rise to N times

Increase by N times（这是政府文件里面的例句：城乡居民年均收入，城镇实际增长4.5倍，农村实际增长4.9倍。The annual per-capita income of urban residents rose 5.5 times in real terms, and that of rural residents, 5.9 times. 

注意： rose 5.5 times是原来的5.5倍，所以是增加4.5倍）但是注意了：这种在地道英语里面少见，多用to times/fold/by a factor of。

都表示“是原来的N倍”。例如By the late eighties their number had grown fourfold.到80年代末的时候，他们的数量已是原来的4倍。

C. double, treble, quadruple。都是原来的N倍

double ['dʌb(ə)l] 翻倍，增加至2倍，是原来的2倍

triple  ['trɪp(ə)l] 增加至3倍，是原来的3倍

quadruple ['kwɔdrupl] 增加至4倍，或翻两番，是原来的4倍
