我最近看了好多篇关于这个话题的外刊文章，今天公众号“高斋外刊双语精读”就给大家分享一些“在家办公，远程办公”相关的英语表达。这篇文章好多外刊句型大家可以积累下，以后写作中可以套用哦！

 

“远程办公、在家办公”英语怎么说？

 

1. work from home

“远程办公、在家办公”英语常见表达是work from home，经济学人上有一篇介绍在家办公的文章，标题是People who work from home are less likely to be promoted远程工作者得到晋升的可能性较小。

那“远程办公、在家办公”为什么是work from home，而不是work at home呢？大家可以看看公众号“高斋CATTI”上更的这篇文章“远程办公”是work at home还是work from home？ | CATTI语法

2. work away from the office

3. remote working表示“远程办公”，它的动词表达是work remotely。比如金融时报例句：

It is hard to be a doctor, bank manager or chef who works remotely.

医生、银行经理或厨师很难远程工作。

“远程工作者”就是remote workers

4. work from a remote location via the internet表示“远程网络办公”。“通过互联网，通过网络”是一个固定表达，via the Internet。

6. telecommuting或teleworking，表示“远程办公”。

“远程工作者”就是telecommuters和teleworker。

 

“在家办公”的好处

对个人来说：节省租金

节省通勤时间；灵活度高

金融时报上有一篇文章写到了为什么在美国西海岸越来越多的人选择完全在家办公，其中有一段话是这么说的：

Fully remote work tends to be targeted at millennials, which makes sense when you think about the size of their student loans and the cost of rent in cities with big job markets such as London, New York and San Francisco. Why wouldn’t they want to live somewhere else and cut out long commuting times while still earning a good salary?

百分百远程的工作往往是针对千禧一代的，如果考虑到他们的学生贷款规模以及伦敦、纽约和旧金山这些有大型就业市场的城市的租房成本，这就很合理了。他们怎么会不想要住在别的地方，节省长途通勤时间，同时又仍然赚取高薪呢？

对于个人来说，允许远程办公的员工可以选择在租金不那么高的地方工作，因此远程办公同样有利于员工节省租金（save money on rent）。

cut out long commuting times表示“节约/缩短通勤时间”。纽约时报上还有一篇文章讲到了多伦多的城市设计：

It’s designed as a model neighborhood for the 21st century, with reduced pollution, shortened commutes, safer streets and better weather.

多伦多的设计堪称21世纪典范。它污染少，通勤时间短，街道安全，而且气候好。

因此，“节约/缩短通勤时间”还可以表示为shorten commutes，cut commutes。

Cut还可以作名词，如100元31篇外刊翻译班（也可关注公众号高斋云课堂，查看详情）中这句：

It has weathered state funding cuts...

经受住了国家经费削减政策的考验……

在家办公

另一个好处是灵活度高

如金融时报例句：

Working from home in the online industry gives me the flexibility to do what I want.

在家远程工作令我可以自由做自己想做的事。

这句话可以改写为：

Working from home in the online industry allows employees the flexibility to do what they want。

“在家办公”还有这个好处

那就是不被同事打扰

可以更好地专注工作

比如经济学人上的这句：

Telecommuters fall into two camps. Some slouch on the sofa watching daytime soaps, pausing occasionally to check their BlackBerrys. Most, however, do real work, undistracted by meetings and gasbag colleagues.

远程工作者分为两种。一些远程工作者缩在沙发里看日间肥皂剧，偶尔停下来看看手机黑莓电子邮箱。而大多数人会认真做工作，不被会议或废话连篇的同事打扰分心。

“分为两类”可以说... fall into two camps。它的同义表达是be divided into two camps；

daytime soaps就是我们常说的“日间肥皂剧”。单独的“肥皂剧”可以说soaps，soap operas；

undistracted by的意思是“不被……干扰，不会因为……分心”，“容易分心的员工”就可以说distracted workers。它的名词形式是distractions，diversions，如：数字干扰digital distractions/diversions。

对企业来说

节省租金；工作场所多元化；

增加工作满意度从而提高生产率

如金融时报例句：

Where start-ups leap at the chance to save cash  on rent, jobs that are 100 per cent remote are fairly common.

初创企业急于抓住节省租金的机会，可以完全远程办公的工作相当普遍。

从这句话中我们可以学到，

leap at the chance是固定表达，意思是“抓住机会”。还可以说take the chance，take the opportunity；

save cash on rent表示“节省租金”，或者说save money on rent。不可以直接说save rent哈。save cash/money on ...的意思是节省在……上花的钱；

are fairly common也可以写为have become commonplace。

“在家办公”还可以增加工作满意度，从而提高生产率，如外刊这句：

强化工作场所多元化，增加工作满意度，从而提高生产率

increase diversity in the workplace, enhance job satisfaction and improve productivity.

对整个城市而言

缓解城市生活中的一些问题

比如金融时报上这句话：

Working from home can also ease some of the impracticalities of urban life.

在家办公还可以缓解城市生活中的一些难处。

ease表示“缓解”之意。

比如在家办公让人们有时间：经常做饭（cook dinner often），定期运动（exercise regularly），享受周末（enjoy weekends），并保持公寓整洁（keep the apartment clean）。

还比如减轻交通压力educe traffic jams，也可以说ease traffic jams。

 

“在家办公”的不利方面

 

01

容易分心，降低工作效率

如金融时报一篇文章

在介绍弹性工作模式（flexible working或flexible working models）时有句话是这么说的：

Some employer resistance to flexible working can stem from a belief that the speed of completing a task will be affected if people are working away from the office.

一些雇主抵制弹性工作是出于这样一种信念，即如果人们不在办公室工作，完成任务的速度可能会受到影响。

其中resistance to表示“抵抗，抵制”，resistance to flexible working即“抵制弹性工作模式/制”。

“……基于怎样一种信念”可以当作一个固定句型来记，... can stem from a belief that。也可以说...be based>造成的结果就是：

The task will not be done as well or that continuity may be affected.

任务不会那么出色地完成，或者连续性受到影响。

换句话来说：

大多数人认为在办公室工作效率最高。

Most people believe that work can be done most productively from the office.

productively表示“富有成效地，效率高地”。

团队成员交流困难

 缺乏团队归属感

Home working can make it harder to communicate with team members, especially if they are new.

在家办公可能会导致与团队成员交流更加困难，特别是当他们是新员工的时候。

can make it harder to也可以说can make it more difficult to。

“在家办公”还可能导致员工缺乏团队归属感。

如金融时报上说：

“And for those away from the office, they may lose a sense of belonging to a team, or pick up resentment from colleagues because they are not physically present to manage unforeseen urgent issues. There is definitely a need for more in-house coaching to reflect this new way of working.”

“对于那些不在办公室的人，他们可能会失去一种团队归属感，或者引起同事们的妒恨，因为他们不在场，不需要处理一些不可预见的紧急问题。肯定需要更多内部培训来配合这种新的工作方式。”

从这段话中我们可以学到这些表达：

“those away from the office”也可以说“those working from home”；

“lose a sense of belonging to a team”当作固定表达来记，表示“失去团队归属感”；

pick up resentment from colleagues：引起同事嫉恨；

physically present：亲自在场，在场；

in-house coaching：内部培训。“内部培训”还可以说trained in-house，internal training。

拓展：“在岗培训”可以说“on-the-spot” coaching。

加大企业监管难度

如金融时报例句：

Some employers don’t realise they have health and safety obligations if staff are working from home, so they ideally need to conduct a safety risk assessment of home working spaces.

一些雇主没有意识到，如果员工在家办公，他们在健康和安全方面需要承担一定的责任。因此，理想情况下他们需要为家里的工作区进行一次安全风险评估。

home working spaces表示“家里的工作区”；

have health and safety obligations表示“承担一定的健康安全责任”，注意have的理解，责任一般搭配的动词是“承担”哈；

conduct a safety risk assessment当作固定表达来记，意思是“进行一次安全风险评估”。

还比如，

Home working makes it more difficult to monitor an individual’s contribution to the team, especially if they are new.

在家办公加大了监督个人对团队贡献的难度，特别是对新员工而言。

其中，makes it more difficult to同样可以改写为makes it harder to。

所以，想想要频繁向老板汇报工作进度以证明自己在工作也挺心累的：

频繁向老板汇报工作进度以证明自己在工作。

Many barrage their bosses with progress reports to prove they are>barrage这个词的本意是“以密集火力攻击（或阻击），连番轰炸”，barrage their bosses with progress reports按字面理解就是用进度报告连番轰炸老板。

这里的意思是员工需要频繁向老板汇报工作进度，用词很形象，大家可以学起来哈。

孤独感

On the other, there is the problem of isolation and increasingly blurred boundaries between home and work that can feel unhealthy.

另一方面，也存在着孤独的问题，而且家庭和工作之间的界限越来越模糊，会使人感觉不大健康。

There be sth中be单复数根据就近原则，这里靠近的是the problem of isolation，而不是boundaries，所以是is。

“increasingly blurred boundaries between home and work”可以当作一个固定表达来记，意思是“家庭和工作间的界限越来越模糊”。

这个句型也可以改写为The boundaries between ... and ... are becoming increasingly blurred.

所以“家庭和工作间的界限越来越模糊”这句单独来说也可以写为：

The boundaries between home and work/work-life boundaries are becoming increasingly blurred.

确实是，自从在家办公后，我每天都弄到10点左右，这不，我还在编辑这篇文章。之前和一位自由译员聊天，她说她自己过得很自在，白天做做翻译，练练钢琴，她取笑我：“我以为创业当老板很容易，没想到你比员工还苦逼啊！”我说：“没办法，谁让咱是靠知识吃饭的呢！既然做，那就尽量做好”。

不过，我白天每工作一个小时，运动10分钟，我寒假居然瘦了！！！所以，虽然家庭和工作间的界限越来越模糊，但是还是得加强锻炼哈，不然身体也吃不消！
