Injuries

Injuries–resulting from traffic collisions, drowning, poisoning, falls or burns - and violence - from assault , self-inflicted violence or acts of war–kill more than five million people worldwide annually and cause harm to millions more. They account for 9% of global mortality, and are a threat to health in every country of the world. For every death, it is estimated that there are dozens of hospitalizations, hundreds of emergency department visits and thousands of doctors’ appointments. A large proportion of people surviving their injuries incurs temporary or permanent disabilities.

Over 3 700 people die on the world's roads every day and tens of millions of people are injured or disabled every year. Children, pedestrians, cyclists and older people are among the most vulnerable of road users.

WHO works with partners - governmental and nongovernmental - around the world to raise the profile of the preventability of road traffic injuries and promote good practice related to addressing key behaviour risk factors–speed, drink-driving, the use of motorcycle helmets, seat-belts and child restraints.

世卫组织与世界各国政府部门以及非政府部门的合作伙伴共同努力,提高道路交通伤害的可预防性,并促进佩带头盔、使用安全带、不酒后驾车、不超速等良好做法。
